James P. Stevenson

James P Stevenson, age 85, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018, peacefully in his sleep. He was born in 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn M. Stevenson of Norwalk, daughters Diane Stevenson of Westlake, Ohio, Karen (Carl) Anderson of Sandusky, Ohio, and James A. (Lori) Stevenson of Marion, Ohio, grandchildren Cortney and Cameron Anderson and Nathan, Connor, and Clare Stevenson, sisters-in-law Arlene Gallagher of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and Nancy Stevenson of North Olmsted, Ohio, and cousin Bob Stevenson of Daytona Beach, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents James L. and Mary (Masterson) Stevenson and one brother, John L. Stevenson.

He was a Marine veteran and made his career as a carpenter, including teaching carpentry at EHOVE. He was a union organizer with Carpenters Local 940 of Norwalk and served as Huron County Democratic Party chairman and Bronson Township trustee for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister to Carriage House and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Friends may call on Friday (Nov. 2) from 5-7 p.m. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday (Nov. 3) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church,
91 E. Main St., Norwalk, with Father Andrew Wellmann officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Paul Catholic Church Endowment Fund.
