Donald "Don" R. Weltlin

Donald “Don” Robert Weltlin, age 92, of Monroeville, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his residence.
He was born September 8, 1932, in Sandusky, OH to the late Robert and Harriet (Denslow) Weltlin. He was a 1952 graduate of Norwalk High School and was a four-year letterman in Track. In 1953 he started selling cars with Martin Motors for 32 years, and three years at Mullinax Motors and eventually becoming the General Manager until it was sold. He always stayed with Buick automobiles. He later went with Carl Kenney which became Steinle. After retirement he continued working part-time at Gilly’s in Bellevue.
He was a 67-year member of the Norwalk Elks Lodge #730 and served as Exalted Ruler in 1971 and then 1976. He was also a member of the Masonic Roby Lodge in Monroeville since 2002, enjoyed bowling in the Elks league for over 60 years, and was an avid golfer. He was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to Las Vegas with “the guys”, golf trips to Pinehurst, SC, and his weekly Wednesday poker games.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Janice (Martin) Weltlin; children, Laurie (Norm Maschner) Weltlin, Dennis Smith, Collen King, and Jodi (Nick Lotz) Smith; grandchildren, Patti (Derrick) Chatman and their daughters, Jaeleah Howard and Olivia Chatman, Kaitlyn (Cody Hill) Smith and their son, Sawyer Smith, Kyle (Kay) Smith and their children, Harper Butcher and Myles Smith, and Rosa King; nieces, Judy Ferguson and Leslie Neuburger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1st wife, Barbara Hawley-Weltlin; and special high school friend, Jack Hawley.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, where visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 121 W. Broad Street, Monroeville with Pastor Dan Pennington officiating. A luncheon will follow and private interment will be held at a later date.
