Raymond Robert Boyle

Raymond Robert Boyle, age 81, of Norwalk, Ohio passed away June 6, 2026, in Sandusky, Ohio.
He was born on May 5, 1945, to William Boyle, Sr. and Genevieve “Geneva” Boggs Boyle Sharpe. Ray grew up in the Ellet area of Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1964.
On April 15, 1964, “Romano” met the love of his life, “Wray Andie,” Wrayanne Wadel Boyle. Shortly after meeting her, Ray enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1964 to 1967. During his military service, he was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and at Fort Lewis, Washington.
Upon returning home from the Army, Ray married Wrayanne on December 30, 1967. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and adventure. He was a proud father of three children and dedicated himself to providing for his family.
In 1967, Ray began his telecommunications career with General Telephone and Electronics (later Verizon) as a lineman, working his way into management before retiring 28 years later in 1995.
In the years that followed, he continued working in a variety of roles, including with Buckeye Telesystem, where he played a significant role in operations; with American Management Systems as a consultant; in the Walmart Automotive Department; and in the flooring departments at both Lowe’s and Home Depot. In his later years, Ray also enjoyed driving for Uber, where he met people from all walks of life. He especially enjoyed the conversations he had with passengers and learning about their cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences.
Ray loved his daily Diet Coke at Burger King and McDonald’s, where he formed many friendships over the years. He loved music and played several instruments, including the accordion, piano, and guitar. Much of his time was spent camping, traveling, reading, fishing, and riding motorcycles with Wrayanne. He enjoyed fishing and loved the thrill of reeling in a fish that put up a good fight. He liked his humor like he liked his martinis. A serious nature lover, Ray treasured mornings at his kitchen table watching the birds and squirrels outside his window with his dog, Namath, at his feet. Above all else, he loved spending time with Wrayanne, his wife of more than 58 years and his constant companion for more than 62 years.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Wrayanne Wadel Boyle; his daughter, Lysa Wray of Cleveland, Ohio; former son-in-law Matt Crawford of Bowling Green, Ohio; his son, John Raymond Boyle (Kathleen) of Mandeville, Louisiana; his daughter, Landra Wray Stogner (Keli) of Norwalk, Ohio; his grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Clay, Jack, Avila, Lucy, Emma, and Gavin; and his great-grandchildren, Leah, Lydia, Ella Wray, and Poppy Joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Boyle, Sr. and Genevieve “Geneva” Boggs Boyle Sharpe; his brother, William “Bill” Boyle Jr.; his maternal grandfather, Everett Early Boggs; and his maternal grandmother, Bertha Elizabeth Mathews Boggs.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the funeral home. A military graveside service will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio.
Ray will be remembered for his love of family, his curiosity about people, his appreciation for nature, his sense of humor, and the enduring love he shared with Wrayanne for more than six decades.
