Harold Spaulding

Harold R Spaulding, age 80, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 29, 2018 at his residence with loving family by his side, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

Harold was born in Decota, WV on October 5, 1937 to the late Fulton and Mary (Carr) Spaulding. He lived in Ohio most of his adult life, retiring from Norfolk and Southern Railroad. Harold was a proud Veteran of the US Army, a member of the NRA and an avid gun collector. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, vacationing with his family, touring museums, battleships, plantations, going to Amish country and traveling to the ocean. Later in life he enjoyed sitting in his backyard swing in the sunshine while drinking coffee and just being with family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty; son, Harold “Butch” Spaulding and his wife, Elaine of Syracuse, IN; daughter, Susan Clayton and her husband, John “Pete” of Monroeville; granddaughter, Michelle Spaulding and friend Jon; grandson, John Clayton; great-grandson, Isaac Timmons; brother, Robert and his wife, Joanne of Charleston, WV.
Gone but never forgotten are family members: sisters, Redith and Pauline; brothers, Lawrence, Richard, Ronald and Paul. In honoring Harold’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or services. His ashes will remain with his wife until the time of her passing, and they will be buried together.
