Doris Rahrig

Doris Edna Rahrig, age 97, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022.

She was born January 20, 1925, in Sandusky to the late Carl and Edna R. (Justi) Bonnigson. She was a graduate of Huron High School and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sandusky.  She retired in 1989 as a teacher’s aide at Edison High School.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, visiting casinos, and playing bingo.  She was an avid bowler on Norwalk and Sandusky Ladies bowling teams, where she bowled many local, state, and national tournaments.  She was previously a member of the Norwalk Eagles and Moose lodges and was a lifetime member of the Norwalk American Legion and Norwalk VFW Post 2743 Ladies Auxiliary.  

She is survived by her children, Wayne Burtscher of New London, David Burtscher of Lorain, Tammy Burtscher of Cleveland, Sandra (Denna) Burtscher of Huron, and Larry Burtscher of Norwalk; stepchildren, Sharon Rahrig of Sandusky, and Steve Rahrig of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Michelle (Donald) Lyons of Norwalk, Lisa Burtscher of Huron, and Michael Burtscher of Norwalk; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Rahrig; and siblings, Henry Bonnigson, Ruth Deehr, and Irma Moon.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:30 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 106 Scheid Road, Sandusky with Pastor Stacy Lauer-Scovanner officiating.  A graveside service will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
