Milton Smith

Milton Smith, of Norwalk passed away December 15, 2023, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born June 25, 1934, in Norwalk Ohio to the late Leon & Verna (Bick) Smith.  He worked at the former Shellar Globe, Mayflower, and Motor Panels in Norwalk, retiring in 1996.  He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Norwalk Eagles Aerie #711.

He mostly enjoyed watching and supporting his son coach basketball at St. Paul for 32 years and attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. He could always be found sitting behind the bench in the Convocation Center with his family cheering on the Flyers. He also loved watching the Cavs, Indians, Ohio State and the Brown’s.

After moving in with his family 4 ½ years ago. He could be found riding around in the neighborhood and in his former neighborhood on his 3 wheeled bike. He enjoyed talking, getting the latest scoop and socializing with all.

He is also survived by his son, Michael (Kelly) Smith of Norwalk; his four grandchildren, Connor & Reanne (Montgomery) Smith, Elizabeth Smith of Cleveland, Treg Smith, and Danielle Smith, both from Norwalk; and his very first great-granddaughter, Saige Smith.

Milton was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Smith; father, Leon Smith; mother, Verna (Bick) Smith; brothers, Carleton Smith, Alvin Smith, and Clifford Smith; sister, Janet Groff.

A celebration of Milton’s life will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Interment will be at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Norwalk.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Paul Athletic Department, 93 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857.

Was long time neighbor, the Smiths kept manacured yard and home. Enjoyed our Tues evenings playing euchre many years at the Eagles after dinner. He has been missed the last 5 years. My condolences to Mike and his family.
