Richard J. Jarrett Jr.

Richard J Jarrett Jr, age 85, of Townsend Township, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born December 17, 1938, in Norwalk to the late Richard Jarrett Sr. and Edna D. (Grimmer) Jarrett. He was a 1956 graduate of Townsend-Wakeman High School and was a lifelong resident of Townsend Township. He served in the Ohio National Guard for over six years, enjoyed farming and was a Township Trustee for 17 years. He volunteered at Fisher-Titus Medical Center and drove transportation for the Huron County Services for Aging. He was a member of Izaac Walton League in Monroeville and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Wade) Leimeister of Huron; grandchildren, Jarred (Corrie) Molesky of Oak Harbor, Justin (Emily) Leimeister of Lima, Clayton (Brittany) Leimeister of Lima and Casey (Ryan) Dragon of Collins; and great-grandchildren, Sadie, Lorelai, Creighton, and Beckett Leimeister, Jessa, Bowen and Josie Dragon and Chase Molesky; son-in-law, Timothy Molesky of Collins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Janet Louise (Burzloff) Jarrett in 2017; and his daughter, Joni Lynn Molesky in 2016.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.  Private interment will be held at a later date.
