Amy Anne Burger

Amy Anne (Gerber) Burger, age 71, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Gaymont Nursing Center.

She was born April 26, 1954, in Massillon, OH to the late Marjorie (Sprunger) and Kenneth Gerber of Kidron, OH. She was a graduate of Dalton High School and The Ohio State University.  She married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Burger on June 22, 1974, and were married for 44 years until his passing in 2018.

They lived in the San Diego, CA area for 38 years. After Dan’s passing, Amy moved to Norwalk, OH in 2019 to be near family. Amy always had a love for animals, and while in California she managed several kennels and grooming services. She then went to work at Legoland and Sea Life in Carlsbad, CA before becoming a veterinary technician until her retirement.

She is survived by her brother, Mark (Judy) Gerber of Ft. Collins, CO; sister, Mollie (John) Wetherill of Norwalk; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dennis and Kathy (Burger) Wenger of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; a special aunt, Rose Marie (Gerber) Emery and Allen Coffin of Tuscon, AZ and Norwalk; and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister-in-law, Joanne (Burger) Fischnich.

 

A private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk, OH.  Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH. The family would like to thank the staff at Gaymont and Southern Care Hospice.
