November 03, 2025

James “Jim” R Loyer, age 77, of Norwalk, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born June 3, 1948, in Cleveland, OH to the late Wilbur and Margaret (Healy) Loyer. He served in the US Army for 10 years. He received several commendations for exemplary service. Always going above and beyond, he was chosen to drive a general in President Nixon’s inaugural parade, where he met and dined with Col. Harlan Sanders (KFC provided the chicken for the meal). He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, particularly the newest addition- his great grandchild, Conlan. The two of them enjoyed teasing and tickling each other. In 1994, he took his love of cars and opened Loyer’s Auto Repair in Norwalk. He ran a successful business because of his honesty, worth ethic and kindness. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie (Slagle) Loyer; daughter, Lisa (Ron) Grimmer; grandchildren, Allison, Hayle, John and Cole; and great-grandson, Conlan; brother, John (Kathy) Fantis; and sister, Carol (Dave) Kerepsi.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Mike in 1994 and Kevin in 2018; and his sister, Betty.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:30 A.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be sent to his daughter, Lisa Grimmer at 517 Yorkshire Drive, Haskins, OH 43525. The family will choose an organization to donate to.
