Betty Horning

Betty Mae Horning, age 95, of Norwalk passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Carecore at Gaymont.

She was born December 28, 1930, in Norwalk to the late George A. and Inez M. (Stout) Horning.  She attended Bronson School and was a 1949 graduate of Norwalk High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her nieces and nephews and worked as a clerk at W.T. Grants in Norwalk for over 30 years. She began helping with visitations and funeral services in 1975 for Kubach-Smith Funeral Homes and in 2000 at Evans Funeral Home until her retirement. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and attended the Methodist Church. She was a scrap booker, painted houses, and enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking and traveling.

She is survived by her siblings, Terry G. (Michele) Horning of Bayview, and Linda K. (Vic) Smith of Parker, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and special friend, Lynn Horning.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George in 1970 and Inez in 1994; brothers, William G. Horning in 1965 and James Horning in 2026; aunts, Treva Miller and Vivian Haynes; and special sister-in-law, Grace Horning.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
