Maya Angelou said,” there is an African American song, 19th century… It said
"When it looked like the sun wasn't gonna shine anymore, God put a rainbow in the clouds"
Kathy’s infectious smile and laughter were rainbows to our world. Her passions for gift giving, crocheting, and cooking are further examples of these rainbows. She was a strong woman that put others’ needs before her own.
Kathy leaves behind an extraordinary legacy that spans multiple generations. She is survived by her brother Tom Fay; her children, Tina (Carrie Fleming) Preece, Tammy Jones, Thomas (Dawn) Doughty III, Tracy Ray, Paul Doughty, and Frances (Steve) Scheel ; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister (Gloria Fay), brother (Robert Fay), and her grandson (Brandon Preece).
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Followed by a procession to Riverside Cemetery in Monroeville.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Southercare Hospice, 9501 Milan Road, Suite 2, Milan, OH 44846.
The following are lyrics from the 1898 Neapolitan song, ‘O sole mio, in both its original language and its english translation. Their words ring true when thinking of Kathy’s life.
“Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole,
n'aria serena doppo na tempesta!
Pe' ll'aria fresca pare già na festa...
Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole.”
“What a wonderful thing a sunny day
The serene air after a thunderstorm
The fresh air, and a party is already going on…
What a wonderful thing a sunny day.”
