Phillip “Phil” Paul Rediger, age 89 of Norwalk, passed away June 26, 2026, at Carecore at Gaymont

He was born July 6, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Hugo and Elsie (Eiding) Rediger. He was a graduate of Lutheran High School East and after graduation entered the Air Force for four years, where he spent a substantial amount of time in England. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he became a bank teller at Washington Federal. Phil met the love of his life, Patricia, on a blind date in 1960 and they married July 15, 1961. 

Phil was a devoted father to his three children, Hugh, Sharon, and Robert and thoroughly enjoyed being an active presence in their life. Phil worked as a tow lift operator for Pick-N-Pay Supermarkets, retiring in 1998. He was very proud of his military service and talking about it was one of his favorite past-times. 

He also loved doing yard work, camping, fishing, and was remembered for being an easy-going person who was very active in his family’s life. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Rediger; children, Hugh (Pam) Rediger of Soddy Daisy, TN, Sharon (Keith) Harris of Berlin Heights and Robert (Lynn) Rediger of Huron; sister-in-law Judith; and 7 grandchildren as well as 8 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Hugo and Elsie Rediger; and brother David Rediger. 

A celebration of Phil’s life will be held Friday, July 10, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E Main Street, Norwalk, followed by a graveside service with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery.
