Stephen R. Herner

Stephen Randall Herner, age 68, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born January 5, 1958, in Norwalk to the late Randall A. and Mary A. (Plue) Herner. He was a 1976 graduate of St. Paul High School. He was a lifelong resident of Norwalk and worked as a machinist all of life. He was known as a smart, funny loyal friend with a heart of gold. He enjoyed being with his family and attending holiday events. In recent months at Gaymont he enjoyed bird watching and always supplied the bird seed.
He is survived by his siblings, Michael (Michele) Herner of Avon, and Lynn (John) Smith of Norwalk; nephews and nieces, Christopher, Adam (Kate), Jacquelyn (Brett) and Emily (Jackson); three aunts, six great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Herner; aunts and uncles.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, followed by a luncheon.
Private interment will be held at St. Paul Cemetery.
