Michael M. Gubesch

Michael M Gubesch, age 86, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born August 12, 1940, in North Tonawanda, NY to Michael and Mary Gubesch. As a child he moved with his parents to Barker, NY, where he graduated in 1958 from Barker Central Schools and participated in band and choir. He attended their alumni banquets each year and led everyone in singing the Alma Mater. He then attended General Motors Institute in Flint, MI, where he obtained his degree in Industrial Engineering, working his co-op at Harrison Radiator Division of GM in Lockport, NY, where he worked upon graduation. He then moved to Freeport, IL and was the Director of Operations for Halsey Taylor/Structo. In December of 1983 he moved to Norwalk, OH where he eventually became President of Janesville Products until his retirement.
Michael also served on the Fisher-Titus Foundation Board and was a longtime member of the Shakespeare Club in Norwalk, and a member of Rooted in Christ Fellowship Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. His tenor voice was a blessing for those who heard it. He was an avid golfer and obtained the thrill of a lifetime with a hole in one on his first golf outing of the 2025 Season at Eagle Creek. Michael was also a fast car aficionado owning several Corvettes and Cadillac CTSs over the years, starting with a 1963 Corvette split window.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie Gubesch (Tom Santelle) Woods of Norwalk, Jill Gubesch of Chicago, and Janine (Alex) Leon of Newark, OH; grandchildren, Dr. Lauren (Ryan Mullen) Woods of Chicago, IL, Andrew (Caitlin) Woods of Livonia, MI and John (Anira) Woods of Olmstead Falls; and great-grandchildren, Carson, Kennedy and Novah; his sister, Nancy Gubesch Smith of NY; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 2022, parents, a brother, John; and sister, Mary.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:30 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A celebration of life luncheon will follow at Rooted in Christ Fellowship Church.
