David Lloyd Rogers
October 28, 2026

David Lloyd Rogers, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 after a short, but heroic battle with cancer.
Dave was born to Lloyd N. and Lillian H. (Laurendau) Rogers on September 18, 1950. He was a proud graduate of St. Paul High School, class of 1968. Upon graduation, Dave entered the workforce in various sales positions, including insurance and new and used cars. Dave was a virtuous salesman, who genuinely cared about his clients.
Dave was the father of two children, Christine (Phillip) Rogers Platz, and Greg (Amy) Rogers. In addition to his two children, Dave had 11 grandchildren; Alec (Katie), Bailey (Ryen), Cullen (Stephanie), Avery (Jacob), Jude (Loren), Adam, Sloan, Nash, Esme, Paxton, and Crosby, and 2 great grandchildren, Zane and Clara. His grandchildren meant the world to him. Despite living in a different town, he attended many of their sporting events and dance competitions. In fact, he even started rooting for St. Paul’s rival, Monroeville, to support his grandchildren who attended and were involved in Monroeville athletics. Like sports, Dave was a huge fan of Christmas, making Christmas magical for his children each year. That tradition was carried on with his grandchildren, who continue to have fond Christmas Eve memories of Grandpa Dave with Juice Boxes/Poppy, arriving with his arms full of amazing gifts and Christmas treats. Dave discovered his love of running in his late 30’s, and like Forrest Gump, did not stop running until it was medically impossible to continue. He proudly completed 7 marathons and several smaller races. He made some incredible friends while running, including his best friend of almost 40 years, Doug Coletta. When running was no longer feasible, Dave continued his weightlifting regiment and added cardio machines. Incredibly, he worked out for 3000 consecutive days until cancer forced him to stop.
Dave is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and siblings, Kathy Crawford, Jim Rogers, Linda (Chuck) Furey, and Rick Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jeanne, and in laws Ted (Kathy) Crawford and Sandy (Rick) Rogers.
A celebration of life will be held at Evans Funeral Home 314 East Main St. Norwalk, Ohio, on Sunday, November 8th from 1-3PM.
